The press conference will present Cultural Contamin@tion 2007, “YES ROMA!” – Parties, concerts, meetings (without stereotypes).
The festival, organized by the Venice City Council in collaboration with the Open Society Institute, Budapest and Paradise Lost- The First Roma Pavilion at Venice Biennale, will take place in Mestre, as part of the general program “Settembre Mestrino”.
The manifestation includes a program of events starting from the 16th of September till mid November 2007 to explore, without prejudices, the cultural identity of Roma people through their contemporary art production, with the aim of encouraging a debate on the role of Roma culture in European Society.
At the press conference, the Venice City Council will be represented by:
Deputy Mayor for Cultural Production Depatment, Honorable Mrs Luana Zanella;
Deputy Mayor for Social Department, Honorable Mrs. Delia Murer;
Mayor’s Delegate for Women Citizens, Honorable Mrs. Franca Bimbi.
Paradise Lost–The First Roma Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (www.romapavilion.org) will be represented by:
Timea Junghaus, curator of the exhibition
The OSI Archivum (www.osaarchivum.org) organizer of the “No Roma” video installation will be represented by:
Zsuzsa Zadori, Senior Archivist, OSA Archivum.
